Self-compassion

Self-compassion—recognising our own struggles and responding with kindness, just as we would for someone else—is an important part of staying emotionally well. When we ignore our own needs for too long, it can lead to stress, exhaustion, and feeling low

Description

Self-Compassion – 4 session community wellbeing course

We’re often kind and caring when someone we know is going through a hard time—but it’s not always easy to treat ourselves the same way.

Self-compassion means giving ourselves the same kindness, care, and understanding that we’d offer to a friend. It’s about noticing when we’re struggling, accepting that it’s okay to have tough moments, and being gentle with ourselves instead of critical.

When life feels busy or we’re focused on helping others, whether at work, in our families, or in our communities -it’s easy to put our own needs last. But if we don’t look after ourselves, we can end up feeling worn out, stressed, or low.

This course is about learning how to be a little kinder to yourself, especially during difficult times. Taking care of your own wellbeing isn’t selfish, it helps you feel stronger, more balanced, and more able to support others too.

In this course, you will:

  • Learn what self-compassion is and why it matters for your wellbeing
  • Explore how being kind to yourself can help prevent stress and burnout
  • Reflect on your own self-care needs and what helps you feel okay
  • Take part in relaxed group discussions and simple personal reflections
  • Set a small, realistic intention to be more self-compassionate in daily life
