Being clear, kind and confident (health and care staff wellbeing)

Learn to communicate clearly, kindly, and confidently—developing assertiveness skills to express your needs, protect your time, and maintain healthier working relationships.

Description

One-day wellbeing workshop for health and care staff

Working in health and care often means supporting others in high-pressure, emotionally demanding environments. In the middle of complex team dynamics, competing demands, and service pressures, it can feel difficult to speak up, say “no,” or express what we need.

Assertiveness isn’t about being forceful—it’s about clarity, kindness, and self-respect. Building assertiveness at work helps us manage boundaries, reduce stress, and maintain more open, respectful communication with colleagues, teams, and those we support.

This workshop will help you to:

  • Understand the difference between assertive, passive, and aggressive communication

  • Identify common workplace barriers to speaking up—and explore how to manage them

  • Learn simple, practical ways to express your needs confidently and clearly

  • Practice saying “no” in ways that feel respectful but firm

  • Build greater self-awareness and emotional confidence at work

  • Reflect on the links between communication, self-compassion, and boundaries in professional settings

Whether you're navigating busy teams, supervision, multidisciplinary meetings or patient-facing roles, this session offers space to reflect—and tools to help you feel more confident in your communication.
