How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. You can see a full list of any issues we currently know about in the Non-accessible content section of this statement.

We are committed to ensuring that our website is accessible and usable for as many people as possible, regardless of technology or ability.

Please note the following important information regarding compatibility and functionality:

Browser Compatibility

  • This website is compatible with modern browsers including Microsoft Edge (version 119.0.2151.12 or later), Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

  • It is not fully accessible on Internet Explorer 8 or earlier versions, and may not function correctly on outdated browsers such as IE6 or IE7, as they do not support modern web standards.

  • If accessed via Internet Explorer, a message will appear prompting users to switch to a supported browser.

Use of JavaScript

JavaScript is essential for the Arlo platform to function as intended. It enables key website features, including:

  • Displaying upcoming courses dynamically

  • Adding courses and items to the checkout

Pages that rely on JavaScript may not be accessible to visitors using assistive technologies or those with JavaScript disabled in their browser. However, we aim to ensure that essential information such as course details, contact information, and locations are still available in plain text elsewhere on the site.

We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our website and welcome any feedback to help us do so.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Leeds Recovery College is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 (external link)

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • The text in the footer of the website doesn’t meet minimum colour contrast ratio thresholds. This fails WCAG 1.4.3. This means that users with visual impairments, such as low vision or colour blindness, may struggle to read the text in the footer. The Leeds Recovery College are unable to edit the colour of the text in the footer and have raised this with Arlo, the provider. The text in the footer reads: Copyright © leedsrecoverycollege.arlo.co 2025 and Powered by arlo.

  • Some links, like the link to the video on the About Us, are not distinguishable without relying on colour. This fails WCAG 1.41. This means that users who cannot perceive colour differences, such as those with colour blindness or low vision, may struggle to identify these links. Without additional visual cues like underlines, bold text, or icons, these users might miss important links entirely. This can hinder their ability to navigate the website effectively and access the content they need. The Leeds Recovery College are unable to edit the way the link is presented. We have raised this with the provider Arlo. If the template cannot be updated by the end of 2025, we will either embed the links in text or remove them.

  • On some course catalogue pages where there are no upcoming dates the text on the page to communicate this doesn’t meet minimum colour contrast ratio thresholds. This fails WCAG 1.4.3. This means that users with visual impairments, such as low vision or colour blindness, may struggle to read the text in the footer. The Leeds Recovery College cannot update the page template. However, we will add the exact same text so that users will know that there are no upcoming dates.

If you find an issue that we have yet to identify, please contact us using one of the routes described in the ‘Feedback and contact information’ section of this statement.

Disproportionate burden

At this time, we have not made any disproportionate burden claims.
