Day of Mindfulness (Community Session)
This is a day for those who have completed a Mindfulness course or already have a Mindfulness practice of their own.
Description
We recognise that life can often feel busy, demanding and overwhelming. Many of us spend our days caught up in thoughts about the past or worries about the future, leaving little time to pause and notice how we are feeling in the present moment.
This course is for those who have completed a mindfulness course before, whether it was with us, or elsewhere, and are looking to reflect, refresh, and deepen their mindfulness techniques. As mindfulness is an ongoing practice, we would like to offer a supportive space to slow down, recharge and learn from one another's experiences together.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness means paying attention to our thoughts, feelings and experiences with curiosity and kindness. Rather than trying to change what we notice, mindfulness invites us to recognise our experience as it is and develop a more compassionate relationship with ourselves.
In this course you will:
- Explore different Mindfulness techniques you can incorporate into your daily life
-
Develop awareness of your thoughts, emotions and physical sensations
-
Learn ways to slow down and connect with the present moment
-
Practise self-compassion and acceptance
We will explore a variety of mindfulness practices, including mindful sitting, walking, eating and self-compassion. The course offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of mindfulness, recharge your batteries and build confidence in developing a sustainable mindfulness practice.
Prerequisites
The day will include:
Some time of silence and slowing down, so you might find that unpleasant feelings arise. This is a day for those who have completed a Mindfulness course (in Recovery College or elsewhere) or already have a Mindfulness practice of their own.
If Mindfulness is fairly new to you, we suggest you first book onto our Mindfulness lite course first. Please visit our website for details of this.
