Chronic pain and mental health

Living with chronic pain can significantly impact your mental wellbeing. When you live with chronic pain, it can feel exhausting, frustrating, and isolating.

Description

Living with chronic pain can greatly affect your mental health.  The emotional toll of physical discomfort can lead to heightened stress, and conditions such as anxiety, and depression may amplify how you experience pain.  

The course offers an overview of chronic pain, what it is and how it effects people. We will learn from one another, sharing our personal insights and experiences related to living with chronic pain. We will also discuss lifestyle adjustments that may for a better quality of life, as well as tips and techniques to support our wellbeing. 

Over four interactive and discussion-based sessions, we will cover topics including; sleep, pain management, relationships, the grieving process, mental health, mindset and values and building a support network.  

The course promotes hope in recovery, creating a supportive environment where participants can share, connect, and cultivate a sense of community and connection. We acknowledge that pain levels can vary, and welcome supporters and caregivers to join – as well as others including family members, informal or formal carers, health professionals, or employers who support people affected by this condition, who would like to find out more.  

 

In this course we will; 

  • Discuss chronic pain and it’s impact on our mental health 

  • Explore different strategies which support wellbeing 

  • Share personal insights, ideas and tools in a mutual learning space.
