Interviewer skills training: Patient & carer involvement

An opportunity for people who use LYPFT mental health services to learn and assist in the recruitment and staff interview process.

Description

The experiences of patients and caregiversare extremely valuable and offer crucial insights into the realities of receiving care.

Through the Patient and Carer Experience Team, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) invites individuals with experience in mental health services, as well as their caregivers, to participate in the recruitment process for new staff.

The Patient and Carer Experience Team at the Trust collaborates with patients, service users, caregivers, staff and the community to enhance patient experiences and improve mental health services and has worked with Leeds Recovery College to develop this interactive two session workshop to support people to get involved in staff recruitment.

The Interviewer Skills Workshop presents an opportunityfor individuals who use the Trust's services to engage in the recruitment and interview process as panel members.

This workshop, conducted over two sessions, will provide an overview of the Trust’s recruitment and selection procedures and delve into the skills that contribute to a successful interview process. By attending the workshop, you will learn more about the interview process and have the chance to practice being part of an interview panel.

In session one, we will:

  • Look at the various services and staff teams within the Trust.

  • Discuss the steps involved in the recruitment and selection process.

  • Explore the do’s and don'ts of interviewing.

In session two, we will:

  • Identify the characteristics of effective interview questions.

  • Explore what we look for in a candidate's responses.

  • Offer the opportunity to experiment with different interview questions.
